Mediation Division

      Like many other states, New Jersey has experienced a substantial increase in the number of lawsuits and potential lawsuits filed in its court system.  To deal with this influx of litigation, courts, lawyers, corporations, small businesses, individuals and families are now turning to mediation to resolve their disputes.  Experience has proven that Mediation generally is more efficient and economical than lengthy litigation.  Recently, more than 7,000 civil cases in New Jersey’s court system were assigned to mediation shortly after a complaint was filed.  Courts, lawyers, corporations, small businesses, insurance companies, individuals and families have accepted and recognize mediation as an efficient and effective dispute resolution process.  As a result over 98% of all civil cases are settled without a costly trial.
To address the heavy demand for both court-appointed and private mediation services, The Morton Law Group, LLC (“TMLG”) has established its Mediation Division.  At TMLG our Mediation Division is headed by Attorney Benjamin Morton – a Court Approved Mediator, with 12 years of mediation, arbitration and related experience (including litigation) from private practice via the American Arbitration Association, as an attorney with Verizon Corp. and as the founder of The Morton Law Group, LLC.  This private practice experienced is rooted in 6 years of Government experience as a military attorney (Judge Advocate General Corp. – JAG) with the United States Air Force where Mr. Morton was hand selected to serve on the Air Force’s Contract Litigation Team and played a major role on this team when it received Military Honors for its award winning Arbitration and Mediation Program.  As a result, Mr. Morton offers a very diverse and wide range of mediation expertise and other relevant professional experience in numerous subject areas.  These areas include but are not limited to:

            TMLG’s Mediation Division was established to provide unparallel mediation services to satisfy a demand for top-flight resolution services, particularly in high-level, high-risk, complex multi-party disputes, whether pending in court or prior to the commencement of litigation.  Mr. Morton’s expertise in the area of mediation and related areas is available to suit any of the litigant’s needs – Plaintiff or Defendant.
            To the benefit of the litigants, TMLG has set up its payment structure such that it provides no fee sharing or added administrative costs.  Each litigant will be billed directly for services performed at the firm’s hourly mediation rate, to be divided equally among the parties/litigants but only after 2 hours of “free mediation services.”
Since mediation has become the preferred method of voluntary dispute resolution and in many cases, is court ordered - the resources of TMLG is available to assist the parties/litigants in the most effective and efficient approach to resolving their dispute.
